Counselling Framework
The Social Determinants of Health and a Trauma Informed Care Framework
Our team are counsellors.
While counsellors and psychologists work may overlap the main differences are:
-
Counsellors work from a more person-centred approach and may use a variety of therapeutic models and techniques to help clients through empowerment to find their own solutions and recovery from trauma.
-
Psychologists are usually aligned to the Medical Model and use more prescriptive treatments like CBT and behavioural testing to inform strategies to overcome behavioural issues and symptoms.
-
Psychologists are able to diagnose, while counsellors are not.
